The state of emergency was declared last week after rains led to severe flooding in the region. In Otsego County, many roads, bridges and culverts were damaged, and some roads and sections of roads remain closed.

According to Kevin Flint, the county’s deputy highway commissioner, the following county roads are closed totally or in sections:

County Route 8 in Oneonta, County Route 11D in Hartwick, County Route 11 between Hartwick and Laurens, County Route 15 between Burlington and Garrattsville, County Route 59 in Hartwick, County Route 41 in Schenevus, County Route 36 in Worcester, and County Route 49 in Edmeston.

County Route 36 in Worcester will be opened soon, Flint said Wednesday at the Board of Representatives meeting.

Otsego County residents with flood-related questions about food, housing, utilities and other household needs, or health concerns or water issues, may call the county’s flood hot line at (800) 884-9286. The center is staffed from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.

People seeking help with other concerns may apply for assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency or state agencies at the disaster-assistance service center at Lee Hall at the State University College at Oneonta (or at Walton High School for Delaware County residents).
