Wrestling, Swimming Organizations Receive Tourism Grants

The Advertising and Promotion Commission approved two tourism grants Thursday totaling $10,000 for wrestling and swimming events.

Northwest Arkansas Aquatics of Bentonville received $5,000 for the annual Summer Classic Swim Meet.
The organization expects 400 swimmers plus their family members to attend the July 13-15 event at the Bentonville Melvin Ford Aquatic Center, 2403 E. Central Ave.
Funds are for operational costs, the community development swim program and scholarship/hardship programs.
The Bentonville Public Schools athletic department received $5,000 for the inaugural State Wrestling Tournament, which is expected draw more than 1,000 people March 15-16 at the Bentonville High School gymnasiums, 1901 S.E. "J" St.
The event will feature 19 schools. Funds will offset expenses for event staff, officials, hospitality and tournament program.
Both organizations anticipate athletes and their families will stay nights in local hotels and motels and eat in local restaurants.
